He was born May 9, 1955, in Buckhannon, a son of the late John Ray and Betty Lou Mathews Ireland. On February 4, 2011, he married Cheryl A. Connard, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Jeffrey Ireland and wife, Madalene, of Charleston and Mark Ireland and wife, Sloan, of Buckhannon; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Campbell of Belle; three grandsons, Brett Belt of Weston and Hunter Crites and Caleb Ireland, both of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Hayley Ireland of Charleston; two brothers, David Ireland of Raleigh, N.C. and Arthur Jay Ireland of Ronda, N.C.; and one sister, Linda Kay George of Richmond, Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Ray Ireland.

Mr. Ireland was an independent contractor and was a member of Slaughter Creek Freewill Baptist in Cabin Creek.

Friends will be received Saturday, June 29, from noon to 2 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, Buckhannon. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Lebanon Church Cemetery, Buckhannon.
