David Franklin Ray

David Franklin Ray of Sissonville, beloved father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 24, 2013, at Hubbard Hospice House after a long illness.

David was born October 19, 1951. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene Ray (Moore). Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters, Kerri (Rob) Hahn of Jacksonsville, N.C., Melissa Ray of Wayne and Melinda (Abe) Ray of Wayne; seven grandchildren, Kailey, Tayler, Marley, Ryan, Ryder, Summer and Lucas; his loving girlfriend of 10 years, Vicky Martin; his loyal sisters, Barbara (Ray) Casdorph of Charleston, Mary (Kenny) Kessinger of Charleston, Doris (Tom) Reece of Kenna, Ritta (Mike) Casdorph of Kenna and Hazel (Demra) Meadows of Sissonville; a host of nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was a graduate of West Virginia State and was a member of SpeakEasy Singles of West Virginia for 20 years. David donated his body to WVU to help others.

There will be a memorial service to honor David's life at Sugar Creek Missonary Baptist Church of Charleston, located at 2209 Falcon Drive, Charleston, WV 25312, on Monday, July 1, at 6 p.m. Pastor Gene Sowards will be officiating the service.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to David's caregivers at Hubbard Hospice House of Charleston.
